Prerequisites for Android Oreo Installation:

  • Download Android 8 Oreo Final Factory System Images.
  • Download and Install Android USB Drivers.
  • Activate USB Debugging on Android Device.
  • Download ADB and Fastboot Platform Tools Package via direct links available below as per your computer operating system.
  • Backup all your device data, apps and files on Your PC, because this will wipe-off all data from device.

How to Install and Flash Android Oreo Image on Android Device?

Step No. 1: After you download system factory images via provided download links, unzip it to your PC or Laptop desktop location or any other directory.

Step No. 2: Now connect your Android mobile phone through data cable with your laptop or computer, and make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your device.

Step No. 3: After your phone is successfully connected, start your phone into Bootloader or Fastboot Mode by pressing Volume Down + Power Key for few seconds.

Step No. 4: Now navigate to downloaded X:\platform-tools-latest-windows\platform-tools directory folder on your PC and open Terminal on Mac or Command Prompt on Windows by pressing Shift Key + Right Mouse Click button and Click on Open Command Prompt, and run following command;

  • adb reboot bootloader

Step No. 5: After that, you need to unlock your device bootloader, now just write following command in command prompt or terminal program.

For Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X and all latest Android phones:

  • fastboot flashing unlock

For older Android phones:

  • fastboot oem unlock

Step No. 6: Your Android device will show you a confirmation screen, if you have already made a data backup then go a ahead, because this will completely wipe-off your device data.

Step No. 7: Now go to your unzipped Android system image file folder location (Step #1), within the command prompt/terminal program.

Step No. 8: You can now enter flash-all script command. For Windows, write: flash-all.bat — For macOS and Linux, write: flash-all.sh.

Note: In order to make sure that this script works from this directory, please ensure that you have the fastboot tool added to your computer’s PATH variable.

Step No. 9: Your Android phone will now reboot after flashing. Now you can again lock your device bootloader, by starting your device into Fastboot Mode/Bootloader Mode again (Step #3), and run following command lines.

For Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P and all latest Android devices:

  • fastboot flashing lock

For older Android devices:

  • fastboot oem lock

Step No. 10: Above commands may or may not delete your phone data again, and your device will restart again. Congratulations!! You have successfully Flashed Android Oreo version 8 on your Android smartphone or tablet.
